THE CANADA PAVILION,
EXPO '92
Saville,1992
This is itthe project that attracted millions of international visitors and launched Apropos Planning!
The Canada Pavilion at Expo '92 offered visitors a triple treat: a multi-screen video, a spectacular IMAX HD film, and an exciting interactive exhibit hall on the theme of discovery. Visitors waited for hours in the hot Spanish sun to see Canada's showcase- voted the most popular international pavilion at the fair.
All three of Apropos Planning's partners worked on the project. Linda Champoux-Arès spent four years as theme co-ordinator for all aspects of Canada's participation. Lorraine Brown and June Creelman were researcher/writers for the federal exhibits. We liked working together so much that we decided to form a company together.
Apropos was responsible for the following:
- overall theme development and coordination for Canadian participation at Expo '92
coordinated participation of different federal departments, three provinces, and several private sector partners
content consultant for video and IMAX film production
national research and consultation on discovery and inventions in all fields --both public and private sector
acquired artifacts, loans etc. for federal exhibits
wrote federal exhibits texts and storyline approaches for videos
wrote content for pavilion database
wrote content for Expo-wide computer information system
organized Canadiana library for VIP lounge
