THE EXTINCTION FILES Ottawa, Ontario,1996
Meteorites, climate change, and human activities all have led to the decline and extinction of species, and all went into the storyline for a major summer exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa during the summer of 1996. With a short lead time and a large area to fill, we relied heavily on the museum's collection of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. The exhibit included a large beaver lodge which kids accessed through a tunnel at floor level.
Apropos brought the exhibit from start-up to completion in just seven months, within CMN's elaborate system of approvals. We developed the theme, wrote the storyline, and worked with CMN staff in fund-raising, communications, curatorial, and educational programming. The exhibit size was 4000 square feet.
