THE FOOD SHOW
Toronto, Ontario,1980's

During the 1980s, in her position as staff biologist at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Lorraine Brown co-ordinated the research and development of OSC's highly acclaimed Food Show. This exhibition looked at food from a variety of different angles: social and cultural, global and local, what we eat and even what eats us! The show included some ground-breaking exhibits illustrating how the human digestive system works. "The Food Show" was thought-provoking, educational, entertaining and at times humorous.

Lorraine oversaw the content development for the whole exhibition, hiring two extra staff to work on the exhibits, and taking a nutrition course in the evenings to improve her command of the subject matter.

Size of exhibition: 10,000 square feet. Though mounted as a summer exhibition, the Food Show became part of the permanent exhibits at OSC.
