“Our Island Home” takes a very original approach to exhibitry – using works commissioned from local artists to convey interpretive messages. The result is a truly aesthetic experience in which visitors learn using all their senses. Apropos Planning’s role was to help flesh out the overall concept from lead designer Terry Stevenson and to write the exhibit plans and text.

Visitors are drawn into the exhibit by an undulating walkway evoking the sea with a lighthouse at the end.

Apropos Planning wrote the concept and final plans for the exhibit which incorporates tactile and auditory experiences as well as visual ones.

Each message took physical form through a commissioned work of art.

Client: Stevenson & Associates, the Government of Prince Edward Island
Collaborators: Terry & Lionel Stevenson and a talented team of artists and craftspeople
