Apropos Planning has planned several travelling exhibits, including two award-winners. The first challenge is to organize the content in a way that it can work for a wide variety of audiences, locations and design configurations. A second challenge is to find interpretive approaches that move beyond simple graphics yet still travel.

Our role: consulting stakeholders, preparing an overall plan, developing themes and approaches, researching stories and images and writing text.

s The poignant story of a million child immigrants is told in Parks Canada’s “Home Children” exhibit. Apropos used artifacts and listening stations to bring the story to life. (With Laurin Kinsella Design)

Green Legacy is a 1,500 square-foot travelling exhibit sponsored by the Canadian Museum of Nature and Royal Botanical Gardens. It explores the beauty, diversity and vulnerability of Canada’s native plants. (With CMN and Expo-Zone International)

t The 1,200 sq. ft. exhibit “Volunteering through Time” was planned so that the exhibit could work on its own, or as a backdrop for interpretive activities. A showcase allows local volunteer groups to display their own artifacts. (With Expo-Zone International)

s ‘On the Move’ for Transport Canada engages visitors through simple interactives such as doors to open and cylinders to turn. This exhibit won an International Tranny Award. (With Oulton and Devine Exhibit Design)
